Where the World Comes Up Short
Our colleague at PSAAG, Matthew Ribar, has generated and analysed empirical evidence on the ratification and use of the UN Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat, and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms (UNPoA) and the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) by NGOs and civil society organisations around the world. Among other findings, we identify key regional gaps in the Middle East/North Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia as well as programmatic gaps: the ATT is widely engaged with in these areas while the UNPoA is not. This research also opens the door for further analysis.
